Stainless Steel 321 / 321H Fasteners are titanium-stabilized austenitic stainless steels with a composition of 17–19% chromium and 9–12% nickel. Titanium (a minimum of five times the carbon content) is added to avoid carbide precipitation during welding and exposure to high temperatures for long periods. 321H is a high-carbon type of 321 with enhanced high-temperature strength. These bolts and nuts have tensile strength of approximately 75 ksi, yield strength of 30 ksi, and elongation of 40%. Their chemical composition provides superior resistance to scaling, intergranular corrosion, and oxidation in continuous service up to 900°C.
